Recorder
The recorder is a very old woodwind instrument. It was the first instrument to be called a "flute." What is now called the flute is actually the "flauto traverso." The recorder has eight regular holes and many have two smaller holes for the bottom two holes that enable the musician to play the low half-steps. The soprano recorder is the most common one seen today. It is commonly viewed as a teaching instrument for young musicians but when mastered, it sounds very professional. Cara-Anne has been playing for fifteen years and currently plays five different recorders ranging from higher to lower pitch: garklein, sopranino, soprano, alto, and tenor. The bass is finally here!
